Program Duration: Four-year Full-Time B. Tech. in Mechatronics Engineering at Mumbai Campus
Intake: 60 seats
Unique Features of the Program:·
Program Constituencies:
The following are the program constituencies, which guide the inputs, delivery and outcomes of the program:
Faculty members are the owners of the program curriculum and are the guardians of the quality of knowledge dispensed. Their overall input and governance defines the educational objectives of the Mechatronics Engineering program.
Employers come to the campus every year to interview students who are graduating. The Placement Cell has an active recruitment process for graduates. Most students seeking employment would have accepted positions by the time they graduate. The employers tend to view graduates as "industry-ready” and have an inherent interest in their quality as well as the quality of students progressing through the program.
The alumni are loyal members of the extended family of NMIMS. While they maintain a fond connection with the institution and its people, they also have the needed separation to evaluate the program objectively. NMIMS alumni connect by local chapters and alumni meet with the program coordinators and faculty members and provide advice about changes to be made to improve the program.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs):
The B. Tech (Mechatronics Engineering) graduates will:
PEO1: Apply mechanical engineering and electrical engineering knowledge and skills to problems and challenges in the areas of mechatronic engineering.
PEO2: Integrate and use systems or devices incorporating modern microelectronics, information technologies and modern engineering tools for product design, development and manufacturing and demonstrate professional interaction, communicate effectively with team members and work effectively on multi-disciplinary teams to achieve design and project objectives.
PEO3: Engage in lifelong learning in their profession and practice professional and ethical responsibility.
Student Outcomes (SOs):
Graduates of the B Tech. in Mechatronics Engineering program will have an ability to:
1)Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
2)Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
3)Communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
4)Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
5)Function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
6)Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
7)Acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

Curriculum
Curriculum for the program encompasses an effective proportion with respect to basic science, core and elective subjects. The courses are based on a credit structure with 20-24 credits per semester totaling to around 180 credits over the entire four-year B. Tech program. Every course has assigned lectures, laboratory sessions and tutorials as per requirement. Students also undergo compulsory technical project work in the 4th year, which at times, leads them to venture out and experience the entrepreneurial spirit. The program course content is reviewed every year with industry inputs and participation.
The school encourages students to learn through experiential mode along with classroom delivery. The delivery is very actively supported by Online Learning Portal System. Evaluation is based on continuous assessment throughout semester with appropriate weightage for semester work as well as end semester examinations. Different evaluation tools like submission of assignments, quizzes, mini-projects, viva voce and presentations are available for the faculty to ensure attainment of course and program out-comes as defined above.
