Interdisciplinary course on Smart Cities
“The Interdisciplinary course on Smart cities conducted by Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and engineering, won the “Order of Merit” award in the Academic Programs category at the BW Business World Smart City Conclave held in New Delhi on the 21st December, 2016. The award was given away by the Minister of State for Urban Development – Shri Manoj Sinha ji. The chief guest for the function was Shri Venkaiah Naidu.
The Objectives of the course as conceptualized by the team of Dr. Anuja Agarwal, Prof. Vanishree Mundewadi and Prof. Shrikant Mulik was to build a deep understanding of the Smart City concepts and the technology that underpins it. The course is designed to help the students develop innovative concepts and prototypes for a sustainable smart city.
After completion of the course, students were able to :
• Decode the Smart City concept & different models of Smart cities in the world
• Understand the Application of technological innovations for smart city enablement
• Identify and measure requirements of a smart city.
• Project work: Generate innovative solutions for smart city as projects outcome. The pedagogy of the course included classroom interaction, industry interaction and field visit to Shirpur town and Shirpur campus.
The students who enrolled for the course were from various schools under the NMIMS University – including Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering, School of Business Management, Sunandan Divatia School of Science, Shobhaben Pratapbhai School of Pharmacy & technology Management, that led to a lot cross fertilization of ideas across the various domains.
The students have developed 10 Innovative concepts for Smart cities as an outcome of the course.”
