4th batch of B. Tech Data Science, 7th and 3rd batch of M. Tech Data Science and M. Tech Artificial Intelligence respectively, admissions are in progress this year. B. Tech Data Science is a first of its kind Program in India (NMIMS Deemed-to-be-University is the first University or Institute in India to start such an undergraduate Program). There are very few universities in India giving Master of Technology program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and NMIMS is one of them.
The Department was established in the year 2015(Starting with M. Tech in Data Science) in order to meet the constant advances in the rapidly growing Analytics, AI and Information Technology Industry and to fill in the gap between what is actually taught in class and what is really required in the Industry.
Since then, the demand from the students for Data Sciences has increased tremendously due to the Industry Acceptance and the Supportive Environment provided by the Data Science Team.

(IDC) forecasts that data generation will increase the 40 Zeta (or 40 billion terabytes) by 2020, 50 time more than what we had in 2010.Data Science is an emerging and futuristic program with huge market demand for qualified professional, with skill in Data handing, efficient storage and retrieval, insight, modelling, prediction and forecasting methods and interpretation of result and insights to make business impact and aid decision making.
