To support ongoing research at the Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering, Mumbai, NMIMS University, Petroleum Experts Limited (PETEX) has donated 10 free licenses of the complete MOVE Suite of Software, valued at £1,886,732 (INR 19,13,36553.53). The company, based at Edinburg, Scotland, has over 420 clients worldwide. They develop a wide range of software tools for petroleum engineering, structural geology and geo-mechanical modelling.
This donation follows a partnership with Dr. Sunayana Sarkar, (Structural Geology, Tectonics, Rock Mechanics) at the Civil Engineering Department of MPSTME, Mumbai Campus. She will be using the MOVE suite for 3D structural geology modelling with special emphasis on fracture/fault analysis, in her ongoing DST sponsored research project, "Study of Shear Zone Kinematics in the Shillong Plateau: Tectono-seismic implications and its bearing upon landslide hazards in the Northeast Region, India”. The software will also be used by research scholars pursuing PhDs in relevant topics. Specific courses for Civil Engineering students of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering will be designed as well.
