Topic Name:
AI driven material innovation for sustainable energy
AIM4SE
Objectives
The goal of this project is to integrate AI and ML tools with basic scientific experimental research on materials, with computational science serving as a link that holds these two elements together.
The key objectives are:
Solar cells, Batteries, Fuel cells, Energy-efficient devices
Issues Involved
The development of materials for sustainable energy faces two main challenges: accurately predicting material properties, efficiently synthesizing and reproducing them.
Traditional methods are time consuming, expensive, and often rely on trial and error. To overcome these hurdles, we aim to use AI and ML tools which can predict material properties and guide the synthesis process. This would accelerate the invention of efficient materials for energy applications.
Additionally, using AI and ML for material synthesis is hindered by the lack of available and reliable experimental data. Building a robust database of reproducible experimental data is crucial but challenging. For this, we aim to develop new machine learning models which can predict and validate synthesis outcomes and help identify and correct inconsistencies in the data.
Hence, this project offers the opportunity to work by applying AI and ML to solve real-world problems in material development for sustainable energy solutions.
